Drop It Like It's Hot

My internal gears have started to slow. My body gave me a side-way glance and an angry sneer when I tried to coax it out of bed for 5:45am spin class this morning. No amount of bargaining was able to sweeten the deal. I finally fought my way up and on to my feet at a little after 6am. I told myself I'd do some weights and indoor bike riding at home and call it a morning. ....but not before I ate breakfast as I am always starving these days when I wake up. So, finally at roughly 6:45pm, after eating and cleaning a little (aka stalling), I manage to pop in ....the prenatal video my Mom bought for me about a month ago. I was resisting this video as I felt it would be my last gas effort at the end of the pregnancy when I could hardly move. What only weeks ago felt "below" me, now looked awfully appealing.
The good thing is that the video was actually quite good, and not too "get in touch with your animal spirit". The bad news is that, I had to do the beginner level of it. (!!!) Ahhh, how did I lose my stamina and strength so quickly?? Yes, I'm carrying around about 12-13 more pounds then before, but come on. The chick in the video who looked like she was due any second was kicking my butt! I've decided to name her, Amy. The good news from all that, however, is that I would rather the video be a challenge than be too easy. I am a competitor at heart, so bring it on, Amy.
But Amy or no Amy, it appears a downward spiral has been set in motion. This was so eloquently stated yesterday via a conversation between our friend, Ryan, and my always so sensitive and loving husband:
Ryan: So you can no longer "drop it like it's hot", huh?
Dan: Oh, she can still drop it. She just can't pick it back up.
Yoga, walking, and swimming. My consolation is that I tell myself I can go back to beating myself to a pulp, with exercises that are so hard I think I'm going to vomit, after the baby is born. ;) For now, bring on the downward facing dog and child's pose. ...current inner animal spirit: anything large and slow moving. Is it too cliche to say a cow?
